Receipts: One Buyer Went Home. Oil Fell 3.5%, the Dollar Went Up Anyway, the Ten-Year at 5.26, and the Line That Never Got Touched. (Tuesday, September 29, 2026)
The paperwork behind Tuesday night’s video, on YouTube and TikTok. Recorded Tuesday evening, September 29, after the close. Every number below has the day it was true and where it came from. Where a number came from a news outlet or a data vendor and not a government page or an exchange, it says so. Five clarifications are owned at the bottom.
Monday night’s lines, and what Tuesday did with them
| Chart | What Monday’s video said | Tuesday, September 29 | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oil, November contract (CL) | “If you’re betting oil goes lower, that bet stays on, and you get out the day oil closes back over 94.64.” | Stayed on. The high was 94.74, printed in the 1:30 to 1:40 AM Eastern five-minute bars, a dime over the line for two bars that both closed back under it. From there it fell all day and settled $89.38, down $3.22 (3.5%) from Monday’s 92.60; the session low was 88.78. Brent settled $102.59, down 2.6%. The reasons on the wires: Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline recovering faster than expected at nearly 3.5 million barrels a day, combined Saudi, Emirati and Iraqi exports near 13 million barrels a day, the most since the war began, and the Energy Department’s offer to lend up to 40 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. | Settle as reported by Bloomberg via Rigzone; the range from Yahoo Finance CL=F five-minute bars and Investing.com; the pipeline and export figures as reported by the Wall Street Journal via Yahoo Finance; the reserve loan as reported by Reuters via BOE Report |
| The dollar index (DXY) | The line is 101.80, the 2026 high from June 24. “You don’t place it while the index is shooting up. You wait for the day it comes back down and touches 101.80 and still finishes the day above it.” | Never touched. Opened near 101.19, climbed through the morning to a high of 101.61 (Yahoo) or 101.62 (Investing.com) in the 12:55 PM Eastern bar, sat between 101.55 and 101.61 from 12:45 to 2:00 PM, then dropped to 101.35 inside the 2 PM hour and ended near 101.39 to 101.44, up about 0.2% from Monday’s 101.20. Nineteen ticks short of the line at the high. | Yahoo Finance DX-Y.NYB five-minute and hourly bars; Investing.com |
| The ten-year, and your mortgage | Monday’s 5.24 was “the highest since 2007”; the mortgage rides on it, not on the Fed’s overnight rate | Treasury’s official par yields for September 29: two-year 4.89 (from 4.92), ten-year 5.26 (from 5.24), thirty-year 5.59 (from 5.56). The thirty-year’s intraday high near 5.61 to 5.62% was reported as the highest since 2002. Mortgage News Daily’s 30-year index rose to 7.58% from 7.50%, which MND called the highest since November 1, 2023. | Treasury: daily par yield curve; the thirty-year as reported by Yahoo Finance; Mortgage News Daily, September 29 |
| Euro-dollar | The euro is most of the index bag, so the index going up is the euro going down | Fell from about 1.1370 to about 1.1345 at 5 PM Eastern, with a low of 1.1317 in the noon-to-1 PM hours, the same window as the index’s high. FXStreet put the year’s low at 1.1324 and tied the move to U.S. yields and Fed-hike bets. | Yahoo Finance EURUSD=X hourly bars; as reported by FXStreet; the 57.6% euro weight: ICE, U.S. Dollar Index |
| Dollar-yen | Out since Friday’s close under 158.05 | Not spoken Tuesday because the yen went the other way: 157.29 at 5 PM Eastern against 157.37 Monday, high 157.72, low 156.98. Japan’s finance minister said an undervalued yen “generally poses problems”; no intervention was reported. | Yahoo Finance JPY=X hourly bars; the remark as reported by FXStreet |
| Stocks, gold, Bitcoin | Not lines Tuesday; here for the record | S&P 500 7,670.84 (down 0.17%), Dow 51,349.92 (down 0.26%), Nasdaq Composite 26,797.54. December gold settled 4,179.70, up 11.30. Bitcoin traded near 83,500 at the close; the New York-day low, 82,869, stayed over the 82,814 line. | Yahoo Finance daily bars; closes as reported by Yahoo Finance’s live blog; gold as reported by USAGOLD; Bitcoin from Coinbase and Yahoo, with the day as reported by CoinDesk |
Chart levels for currencies, futures and Bitcoin are data-vendor prints (Yahoo Finance, Investing.com, Coinbase), not official tapes; the oil settle is the number the wires quoted as “settled at.”

| We still have no deal with the country we’ve been fighting, and a ship got hit Monday evening in the strip of water the tankers have to squeeze through | UKMTO incident 143-26: a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a suspected projectile Monday evening; the fire was put out, the crew was safe and the ship continued, as reported Tuesday morning. Iran’s foreign minister left New York with no formal U.S. answer reported through Tuesday evening; the president called a report of a sanctions-relief offer a hoax. | As reported by Arab Times, CBS News live blog and Al Jazeera |
| The refineries needed fewer dollars Tuesday, so that buyer went home; the other buyer got bigger | Oil’s 3.5% drop is the refinery bill getting smaller; the dollar index still rose about 0.2% and the ten-year still rose two hundredths. The wires’ reasons for the bond selling: inflation worry and heavy corporate-bond supply, as reported. | Figures in the table above; the reasons as reported by Bloomberg (headline and summary; the page is bot-walled, so no link) and Yahoo Finance |
| Two o’clock: one of the Fed bosses said there is no need for urgency on raising the rent on money | New York Fed President Williams, University at Buffalo, 2:00 PM: “With the policy action we took at our September meeting, there is no need for urgency, and we have time to gather more information.” He also said one more increase “may be appropriate late this year.” The index fell from 101.59 to a low of 101.35 inside the 2 PM hour. The CME’s odds of an October increase fell to about a coin flip by one count and were quoted anywhere from 51% to 77% across republished tools, which is why no number was spoken. | Federal Reserve Bank of New York, speech text; Yahoo Finance DX-Y.NYB hourly bars; the odds as reported by investingLive |

Five clarifications
1. “Over it by about a dime, for a few minutes” is two five-minute bars with highs of 94.73 and 94.74 at 1:30 and 1:35 AM Eastern; neither bar closed above 94.64. The rule says “closes,” and that is why.
2. “Finished the day at 89 dollars and change” is the 2:30 PM settle of 89.38; the later evening print was 88.94. The settle is the number spoken.
3. The dollar index’s close differs by feed: 101.39 on Yahoo’s last bar before 5 PM, 101.44 on Investing.com’s row. Both are under 101.80, and both are up on the day.
4. “Two reasons, as reported” for the lenders selling with oil down comes from Bloomberg’s wire summary of the bond market. Its page cannot be fetched from here, so it is named and not linked.
5. The video said Monday’s ten-year was “the highest since before most of you had a smartphone.” Treasury’s official 5.24 on September 28 was the highest since 2007; Tuesday’s 5.26 was higher still.
