Receipts: Fed Week, Day Two — The Move Happens Before the Announcement (September 15, 2026)
The paperwork behind Tuesday’s video on TikTok, recorded around 4 AM ET on September 15 after London opened. The lesson was that the price moves before the decision, so the numbers below are Monday’s close and Tuesday’s London open, which is what I read on camera.
What I said on camera
- The economists flipped. A week earlier most said hold; by Monday most said hike. The experts follow the money, so watch the money.
- The dollar went up before the Fed said a word; the euro hit a one-month low.
- Gold fell a third day in a row. Gold pays nothing, so when cash is about to pay more, gold gets lonely.
- Monday’s stock drop was a story, not the Fed: chips fell on an AI essay while software rose. When the Fed hits, nothing goes up.
- The ten-year Treasury yield touched five percent Monday and went through it overnight. Your mortgage is built on that number, not the Fed’s.
- Five percent is the bar. Every other bet on the board has to beat it now.
- Oil jumped five percent Monday morning and gave it all back in an hour on one sentence from the president. Then it took it all back overnight.
- Tuesday at 1 PM the government would borrow for twenty years; if lenders demanded more, that would tell you Wednesday’s mood a day early.

How Tuesday’s tell graded
I told you to glance at the 1 PM twenty-year auction. Here is the official result. The government sold $13 billion of twenty-year bonds at a high yield of 5.420%, the most it has ever paid on that bond. Indirect bidders, the group that includes foreign central banks, took 52.47%, the smallest share in the modern twenty-year’s history; in August they took 62.9%. Dealers were left holding 16.85%. Source: TreasuryDirect auction results, September 15, 2026. Wednesday’s mood turned out to be exactly that.
