Receipts: The Banker Sits Down. Oil’s 5% Morning, the Post That Took 3 Dollars Off, Why the Line Held, and Friday’s List. (Thursday, October 8, 2026)
The paperwork behind Thursday night’s video, on YouTube and TikTok. Recorded Thursday evening, October 8, after the close. Every number said on camera is in the tables below with the time it was true and the document it came from: the three sale days, oil’s morning and the president’s post, the Gulf shut-in against what America pumps, the tanks, the ten-year’s finish, and Thursday’s finishes on oil, the ten-year, the euro, the yen, the dollar index, the Dow and Bitcoin against the lines the members have had. Nine clarifications are owned at the bottom.

Oil: the morning, the post, and the finish
| What I said | The record | Source |

|---|---|---|
| Half the Gulf is a tenth of what America pumps in a day. | U.S. field production of crude oil averaged 13,979 thousand barrels a day in the week ending October 2. | There’s 424 million barrels sitting in the storage tanks. Above normal for October. | Commercial crude oil inventories were 424.1 million barrels in the week ending October 2, down 3.2 million on the week and 1% above the five-year average for this time of year. Thursday’s finishes against the list
| What I said | The record | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Oil at 2:30 Eastern, the official close. Thursday’s settle finished under the line, so nothing new. | Thursday’s settle, 91.49, finished under the line. | The ten-year rate, the one your mortgage follows, finished 5.22 today, lowest since September 25th. Under the line. | Treasury’s 10-year par yield finished at 5.22% on Thursday. The last finish at or below that was 5.17% on September 25; the finishes since were 5.24, 5.26, 5.29, 5.24, 5.28, 5.31, 5.27 and 5.28. | The euro finished 1.1215, under the line from September 30. | EUR/USD was 1.1215 at the 5:00 PM Eastern bar on Thursday. The euro line was given September 30. | Yahoo Finance EURUSD=X 5-minute bars, captured 8:05 PM ET; tradewithbanks.com/receipts |
| The yen finished 157.82, inside the box, which means nothing. | USD/JPY was 157.82 at the 5:00 PM Eastern bar on Thursday (day’s range 157.50 to 158.37). The box, a top and a bottom, was given September 30. | Yahoo Finance JPY=X 5-minute bars, captured 8:05 PM ET; tradewithbanks.com/receipts |

The banker’s week on oil
The video names four public pages a banker reads on oil every week, each on its own day at its own hour. Which four, where they live, and what to read on each one is the Oil & Gas Cheat Code. It’s there if you want it.
Clarifications, owned
1. “A hurricane shot off more than half of what the Gulf pumps” on tape is “shut off.” The figure is the federal offshore regulator’s 62.9% of current Gulf oil output, as of Thursday; earlier in the day the number reported was about 500,000 barrels a day and it climbed as more platforms closed.
2. “Half the golf is a tenth of what America pumps” on tape is “half the Gulf.” The arithmetic is 1.3 million barrels a day shut in against 13,979 thousand barrels a day of U.S. production, 9.3%, rounded to a tenth. The Gulf’s full output is larger than what was shut in, so “half the Gulf” is the shut-in portion, not the whole Gulf.
3. “The number I gave you two weeks ago”: the oil line was first given Sunday September 27, eleven days before Thursday’s video.
4. “Above normal for October” is the EIA’s “1% above the five-year average for this time of year.” The same report showed inventories down 3.2 million barrels on the week, which the video does not mention; the level was still above the average after the draw.
5. “The price gave 3 dollars back in minutes” is WTI going from about 93 to about 90 after the post, as reported by Yahoo Finance and CNN. By the 2:30 settle it had climbed back to 91.49, so the day’s net was still up 3.6%; the video’s “finished at 91.49, up” has that right.
6. “Oil jumped 5% before lunch” is the 11:00 AM high of 93.20 against Wednesday’s settle of 88.28, which is 5.6%.
7. “Three days in a row the government borrowed money” are the 3-year, 10-year and 30-year sales. “Tomorrow, nothing is for sale” means no note or bond sale on Friday; Treasury’s weekly bill sales are on other weekdays. “He’s on the golf course by 2:30” is a joke, not a report.
8. “4 Eastern” on tape, in the Bitcoin line, is 4:00 PM Eastern. The 4:00 PM price is a Yahoo Finance 5-minute bar; other exchanges differ by tens of dollars, and all of them were well under the line at that minute.
9. “About five years on this app” and “the oil piece of it is something you can actually learn to do yourself” are ad-libs on tape, said as meant. The four pages named in the video, and the walk-through of them, are the Oil & Gas Cheat Code on the site.
The daily version of this
I’m Nathan Banks. Since 2001 I’ve learned, over time, which reports matter and why. These pages are the evening version: the numbers with a date. The morning version, before the open, is the Daily Market Research, and that’s where the lines live. The method underneath it, the Institutional Expansion Cycle™, is the Core Framework. The oil piece of the week, the four pages and what to read on each, is the Oil & Gas Cheat Code. It’s all there if you want it. The free trade desk is at tradewithbanks.com/join.
